FAQs

Do you only make shirts featuring Colorado landmarks?
Colorado has so much to offer that we've decided to start here.  We'd love to open up the possibilities ... but for now we're gonna dance with the one that brung us.

Do all your shirts feature real places or are some of them fictional?
They're all real!  Most are bustling places with a line out the door any given day.  A few are dearly departed icons of Colorado that today live on in memory and legend.  But they all share one thing in common: they ain't some figment of Old Navy's imagination.

Do the businesses you feature get a portion of sales?
Yes.  All the businesses in our T-shirt collective get a percentage of sales of their shirts.  Nothing makes us happier than giving them those checks!

Do you get permission to feature the businesses you've chosen?
Yes!  We would never do anything before getting buy-in and legal agreements squared away with the owners of these spots.  Their blood, sweat and tears went into building their businesses, after all.

How do you choose what places to feature on your shirts?
We confess we've started with some of our own personal favorites.  But one of the best things about our jobs (and our lives) is discovering new favorites every day.  We also look to you for suggestions, because the possibilities are endless, and you're probably smarter than us anyway.

What about the triple bottom line (people, planet, profit)?
Our shirts are 100% cotton.  They're made in California by American Apparel, a company that uses an innovative, vertical integrated manufacturing process.  We screen print our shirts with water-based inks.*  With these inks, water is the main solvent rather than the more conventional (and harmful) plastisol.  One happy side-effect of this choice is that water-based inks give shirts a softer hand-feel, rather than the rubbery feel of conventional inks.

We're not perfect.  But in all the decisions we make at LoyalTee, we're working to balance price, value, variety, sustainability, and responsibility.

How are your shirts sized?
Made of 100% fine ring-spun combed cotton, our lightweight fine jersey tees are exceptionally smooth.  Our men's/unisex shirts have an ever-so-slightly fitted cut (size chart).  Our women's shirts are form-fitting and tend to run about a size small; when in doubt, size up (size chart).  We recommend washing in cold water to avoid the dreaded shrinkage.

Is LoyalTee local and independent too?
We're based in Denver, and we answer to no one.  We've got roots in the community going back several generations -- way back to the gold rush days.  Those poor bastards never found any gold, so here we are selling shirts.

*Our new state flag T-shirt is printed with conventional ink. Water-based wasn't gonna fly on that blue.
